DESCRIPTION:Help end hunger in our community! After a brief orientation\, we will pack and deliver groceries for families in Greater Boston. After registering with TBS\, there is an additional form to complete for Family Table\, as well as a required background check for all adults in your group. Please note that this program takes place at JF&CS Family Table in Waltham\, NOT at TBS. \nJF&CS Family Table serves more than 550 families each month across Greater Boston\, the North Shore and the South Area by offering nutritious groceries\, Jewish holiday items\, and personal hygiene products. Our clients include seniors living on fixed incomes\, Holocaust survivors\, survivors of domestic abuse\, people living with disabilities\, and people who are unemployed or underemployed. DESCRIPTION:Join TBS Brotherhood and the Adult Learning Committee for a full bagel-and-lox “Brotherhood Breakfast” honoring Roberta Gerson with the Marc Comras Award for outstanding service to our temple. \nFollowing the presentation\, TBS member Doug Most introduces his latest book\, Launching Liberty: The Epic Race to Build the Ships That Took America to War. Launching Liberty tells the remarkable story of how FDR partnered with private businessmen to produce cargo freighters longer than a football field – ships he affectionately dubbed “ugly ducklings.” As German U-boats maintained their attacks\, Roosevelt initiated a bold nationwide competition among shipyards to see who could construct ships the fastest. Driven by duty and the thrill of innovation\, workers reduced the shipbuilding timeline from months to weeks and then to days. Doug will recount the untold and inspiring stories of those who rose to the challenge during one of America’s most critical and tumultuous times. \nA prolific writer and journalist\, Doug\, in addition to his new World War II book\, Launching Liberty\, is the author of three books\, including the best-selling The Race Underground. A former Boston Globe editor\, he serves as the Executive Editor at Boston University.

SUMMARY:Kindergarten Simchat Shemot
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to invite you to join us for Simchat Shemot (Celebration of Names) on Sunday\, March 22\, at 11:30 AM! \nOver the past few months\, the children in Kindergarten Mayim and Mayim Tamid have been exploring their Jewish/Hebrew names. Our Kindergartners have learned to recognize and write their names in Hebrew letters\, explored the meaning of their names and the reasons their parents chose them\, heard stories from the Torah in which our ancestors received new names\, and created beautiful projects to showcase everything they learned. Simchat Shemot (Celebration of Names) is a culmination of this wonderful exploration! \nThis event will be held at TBS. We will join together for a brief service that will include a presentation by the children and a very special naming ceremony for those receiving their Jewish names for the first time. Following the service\, we will have a gallery walk\, where the children’s artwork will be on display\, along with a delicious bagel brunch. We look forward to seeing you there!
