SUMMARY:Judaism: The Big Questions
DESCRIPTION:Professor Marc Michael Epstein–a former TBS Scholar-in-Residence–returns for a five-part\, exclusive Community Scholars Program series that tackles Judaism’s most urgent\, perennial questions—rooted in deep tradition\, framed for today’s seekers. Across five Sunday sessions\, we’ll probe: Nov 2nd – The Monotheism Question (are Jews really monotheistic\, and what does “real” monotheism mean?); Nov 9th – The Prophecy Question (who speaks for God—and who decides?); Nov 16th – The Land Question (why the Promised Land is both anchor and flashpoint); Nov 23rd – The Rationalism Question (how far reason can stretch when it meets mysticism); and Nov 30th – The Gender & Sex Question (reconciling ancient texts with contemporary understandings). Come to wrestle\, question\, and discover—together. Presented by the Orange County Community Scholars Program and sponsored by TBS Adult Learning. Questions? Contact Adult Learning.

SUMMARY:Remembering Yitzhak Rabin: Hope that Will Not Die
DESCRIPTION:As we approach the 30th anniversary of the assassination of Rabin we recall his vision for peace in Israel and the Middle East. The life of Yitzhak Rabin mirrored the life of the people and state of Israel. In his own words\, “The joy of the Jewish people is always mixed with sorrow – the huppah with the broken glass underneath it. The dedication of a new house with an unfinished plaster as a remembrance of the destruction of the Temples. The Passover Seder and the bitter herbs. In Israel\, the tears of Yom HaZikaron touch the circles of dancers on Yom HaAtzmaut. Rabin knew joy and victory as well as tragedy and defeat.” November 4\, 2025 will mark 30 years since Rabin was assassinated by a Jewish extremist. This three-part class is led by Rabbi Jan Katzew and will take place on Zoom.
