In January of 2019, the New York Times printed an editorial entitled "American Jews and Israeli Jews are Headed for a Messy Breakup," suggesting a growing gap between American Jews and Israel that is inevitable and irreversible. Rabbi Bob Orkand will lead us in conversation about the current relationship of the world's two largest Jewish communities and ways to better understand each other. We will explore how we understand our relationship to modern Israel, and consider how we can help our children and grandchildren understand an Israel that is very different from the one we have come to know.
