Jewish Boston: A Ride Through History with Daniel Dain

In his new work,The History of Boston, local author Daniel Dain explores the rich panorama of the city’s political and social history. In his visit to TBS, Dain will focus on the Jewish aspects of this history. He will cover the first Jewish colonialists, the early immigration of Central European Jews, the first synagogues and cemeteries, Jewish settlement in the South End, immigration in the 1880’s, the migration from Boston’s core to the suburbs, and the later arrival of Soviet Jews. He will also discuss antisemitism in Boston, including the 1930’s diatribes of Father Coughlin and related attacks on Jews, the Jewish/Christian reconciliation, and recent protests on area campuses.



Daniel Dain, Esq., a native Bostonian, is the founder of the law firm Dain Torpy and a board member of the Vilna Shul.
