SUMMARY:Mitzvah Makers: Volunteer Shift at Cradles 2 Crayons
DESCRIPTION:Bring your kids (ages 5+) and join Mitzvah Makers and TBS Social Action for an afternoon of volunteering at the Cradles to Crayons (C2C) Giving Factory in Newton! We will quality check\, sort\, package\, and prepare new and gently used donations to go to kids in the Greater Boston community through C2C’s incredible network of Service Partners. Please note that this program takes place off-site at Cradles to Crayons\, which is about a 20 minute drive from TBS. While younger siblings are typically welcome at Mitzvah Makers events\, C2C requires volunteers to be at least 5 years old. \nWhether you are able to participate in the C2C shift or not\, please consider donating to our C2C clothing drive! Volunteers may bring their bag(s) of gently used children’s clothing to the shift on November 14. Those who are not volunteering may drop their bag(s) at TBS (in the donation drawers off main lobby) or in the donation bin next to the driveway at 83 Thornton Road\, between November 1-13. DESCRIPTION:Limited to 15 people. \nJoin us for an afternoon with the animals at Unity Farm Sanctuary! We will learn about the sanctuary and its work\, take a tour to meet the beloved rescues\, and spend time doing volunteer work in with the goats and Maxine Llama. Please note this program takes place at Unity Farm in Sherborn. Families are responsible for their own transportation. \nUnity Farm Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to the lifetime care of a limited population of ill\, disabled\, senior\, orphaned or otherwise surrendered farm animals. We offer extensive Humane Education programs\, sanctuary tours\, volunteering and other programs to encourage plant-based living and foster empathy\, kindness and compassion for non-human animals\, human beings and the planet.

SUMMARY:Mitzvah Mavens: Family Table Distribution
DESCRIPTION:Help end hunger in our community! After a brief orientation\, we will pack and deliver groceries for families in Greater Boston. After registering with TBS\, there is an additional form to complete for Family Table\, as well as a required background check (CORI) for all adults in your group. These forms will be emailed and due about one month prior to the event. Limited to 16 people. \nPlease note that this program takes place at JF&CS Family Table in Waltham. Families are responsible for their own transportation. \nJF&CS Family Table serves more than 550 families each month across Greater Boston\, the North Shore and the South Area by offering nutritious groceries\, Jewish holiday items\, and personal hygiene products. Our clients include seniors living on fixed incomes\, Holocaust survivors\, survivors of domestic abuse\, people living with disabilities\, and people who are unemployed or underemployed.
