Membership
Temple Beth Shalom is a warm, vibrant, and diverse community of individuals, couples, and families. We share a joyful and supportive relationship in which we embrace the values, traditions, and teachings of Torah through the lens of Reform Judaism. Through worship, celebration, lifelong learning, and service to others, we inspire spirituality, nurture personal growth, promote social justice, deepen Jewish experiences, and enrich the life of each member of our community and the world around us.

Sisterhood
All female identifying adult members of TBS are automatically part of TBS Sisterhood! Non-TBS members are welcome to join the Sisterhood community for a $118 fee. Sisterhood spans and celebrates all ages and stages and puts great value on the intergenerational connections that are made throughout the community. We host dozens of events, classes, and workshops throughout the year.

Brotherhood
All male identifying members of Temple Beth Shalom are automatically part of Brotherhood. Brotherhood has a full calendar of events throughout the year, including our annual Leroy Davis Sports Breakfast, regular “Shmoozefest” evenings (informal gatherings over dinner), our Brotherhood Blood Drive, spring softball (the TBS Bashers), and more.

TBS ConNEXTions offers a largely social space for you to engage – or reengage – with friends and peers in the TBS community. TBS ConNEXTions offers fun and compelling programming, outings, and opportunities to be with peers and friends.

Designed for our members in their 60s plus, ConNEXTions+ has been re-envisioned and reimagined to reflect the evolving needs of this vibrant segment of our TBS population. Our calendar of events is rich with a variety of entertaining and educational programs open to all TBS members.

Adult Learning
Learning is part of our lifelong journey. We bring a variety of programs that touch our community in many ways and bridge generations. We host events and seminars, offer travel experiences, and welcome visits from outstanding scholars, teachers, and presenters.

Social Action
Impactful, meaningful and creative Mitzvah Projects throughout the year at TBS and off-site at our partner organizations. Our goal is to engage volunteers, of all ages and abilities, to care for and support people in need, in a variety of ways and settings. All projects involve learning about our partner organizations, the populations they serve, and getting right to work.

Antisemitism Awareness Initiative
Our committee acts as a resource and partner with other organizations to combat antisemitism, and provides education and awareness to the community. This includes programs on sources of antisemitism, how to combat it, training regimens, community
research, and outreach to communities beyond Temple Beth Shalom.

We are a community committed to the pursuit of Tzedek, Righteousness. We inspire our members to engage in activism through legislation, education, and social awareness that will help to achieve the goal of greater justice for all.

Worship
We celebrate the vibrant rhythm of Jewish time and bring holidays to life as a community. Services feature song, warmth, and spirit and are accessible to everyone. Our rabbis and musical leaders guide us through services thoughtfully, with explanations and teachings, to ensure that everyone is sharing in a meaningful way.

The Beth Shalom Garden Club actively supports the Temple and the Needham Community by creating magnificent flowers for our Sanctuary and events.

Families with Young Children
Young children are sponges, soaking up the world around them. We offer a wide variety of programs, events, classes, and social action opportunities designed for families with children age 0-6. From monthly Tot Shabbats, to holiday celebrations, to weekly parenting classes, TBS provides connection, support, learning, and so much more.

Children's Center (Preschool)
TBS children are thinkers who construct knowledge through interacting with the world around them. Working together as a community of learners they ask questions and explore big concepts. Jewish values are woven into the daily curriculum as the children learn to live by our guiding principles: We take care of ourselves, we take care of each other, and we take care of our world.

Families with School-Age Children
TBS brings together our families with school-age children for programs designed just for this stage of family life! With everything from mitzvah projects to active Shabbat Hikes, family dinners, and social gatherings, TBS offers opportunities for connection, celebration, learning, and fun! Programs are open to families with children in grades K-6, with older and younger siblings welcome.
