Book Club Forming to Read Israeli Books in English Organizational Meeting
TBS is thrilled to be organizing an Book Club to read Israeli books, stories, and literature in English. In the short seventy-eight years of Israel’s reconstitution as a Jewish state, Israel has developed a vibrant literary tradition. Together, we will explore compelling stories, ideas, and perspectives from Israeli writers. All reading levels and backgrounds are welcome. At our meeting on Tuesday, September 29th at 7 pm we will decide together how we might like to structure our group – how often to meet,
whether to meet in-person or virtually, and what kinds of books to read. Our first meeting is a ‘no-obligation’ exploration of what our experience
together might be. All are welcome!
Organizer: Lisa Keshet is a member of Temple Beth Shalom who has experience organizing Book Clubs of Israeli writing. Lisa and her family lived in the Lower Galilee of Israel for almost 10 years where she worked at Zefat Academic College. Raised in the Reform movement, Lisa received rabbinic ordination from the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. Lisa is deeply attached to the Hebrew language and Israeli society.
