Join BESTY on March 22nd at the Clayroom in Brookline for an afternoon of pottery painting! The event is $40 per participant, which includes a piece of pottery to paint and pizza. Street parking is available, so we recommend participants either carpool or get dropped off. We can’t wait to see what you create!
Join Etzim on Thursday evenings, 6:15 pm-8:00 pm for dinner followed by a weekly lounge space. Lounge is open to all 8th-12th graders and is a space where teens can do homework, spend time with old and new friends, and participate in a combination of structured and unstructured activities, including art projects, games, and community building. Some weeks there will be themes, and other weeks there will be an open lounge with options of activities.
Purim Louge Night!
Please join us to celebrate Purim! This is open to anyone in Etzim, even if you do not typically attend lounge nights.
Kol Simcha
Come join TBS’s newest vocal group Kol Simcha for community members in grades 8-12 led by national award-winning arranger and composer Mayta Cohen. Founder of BerKalit, the nationally touring Boston-based Jewish a cappella group, Mayta specializes in blending Judaism with rich vocal harmony. As the first female arranger for The Maccabeats and Six13, and a faculty member at A Cappella Academy—where she teaches alongside members of Pentatonix and Pitch Perfect—Mayta invites you to join her for evenings full of harmony, new friends, and a chance to connect with Judaism through music. Kol Simcha will have five rehearsals leading up to a performance on the Bima on Shabbat on Friday, March 27th at 6:15 pm! Following that Shabbat service, members of Kol Simcha will have the opportunity to perform at Kolot HaYam in New Jersey, a Jewish a cappella Shabbaton competition for Jewish high schoolers from May 8th-10th.
Please sign up by February 19th. Rehearsals will begin on Wednesday, February 24th, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm.

For the Sake of Argument: Spring Etzim Chug
In a world full of differing opinions, it can become very easy to decide that engaging in a conversation is simply not worth it. However, having these hard conversations with an open heart and mind is a Jewish tradition that shows up in so many aspects of our life. We are encouraged to ask hard questions, wrestle with challenging topics, and speak up when we see injustice in our world. Together, we will learn different tools and strategies for having healthy arguments and the value in those types of dialogue. Each week will focus on a different tool, and then we will get a chance to put these into practice. By the end of our trimester together, you will be ready to face those more challenging conversations and be ready to apply your skills to the real world!
5th Grade Exploring Worldwide Jewish Communities
Sunday, March 15 | 1:00 pm
We are so excited to welcome you to dive into our Jewish communities around the world, ending with our own community right here on Sunday, March 15th, at 1:00 pm.
Over the past few months, we have explored what it means to be a part of the Jewish people and what that looks like in different places around the world- from Mexico, Bulgaria, South Africa, Israel, and more! Our 5th graders are learning about different traditions, starting to think about how they would like to incorporate Jewish traditions and culture into their practice, and seeing how unique (while also similar!) our global Jewish communities can be.
Please join us at TBS to explore these fantastic worldwide Jewish communities, with a culminating activity of discussing as a family what our own Jewish traditions and practices look like as a family and local community and how that shapes our Jewish identities.
Please join us at 5:30 for Shabbat dinner in Simon Hall before our 6:15 pm Shabbat service! This dinner is for TBS families with 2nd Graders enrolled in Mayim. Please RSVP by Monday, February 2.
Join us April 9-13, 2026, for our 11th and 12th grade trip to Charleston, SC! The focus of this trip will be Tikkun Olam – the Jewish value of making the world a better place. Our group will volunteer on a construction crew for Habitat for Humanity, helping to build houses and working to break the cycle of poverty, helping more people achieve homeownership and a better future. We will also explore the city and learn about what makes Charleston such a special and unique place in the south, as well as for the Jewish community.
